New Review: Fire Island

Sorry, Mee lovers. Really didn't like Fire Island. Here's my New York Press review.

Too late, I'm already seeing it tomorrow (so I won't read your review until then). Out of curiosity, though: on a scale of Iphegenia 2.0 to Paradise Park (with Iphegenia being a high point, and Paradise Park being a low), where would you rank this?

Wow, lots of assumptions in that, hm? Frankly, if/when you read my piece, I discuss how this whole Mee season has been a source of frustration for me, unfortunately. As I say, I've been seeing his work for 17 years now and I really think the whole collage-style thing may be almost played out at this point. Either that or I'm just a stupid idiot who doesn't get it. But as I'm pretty sure I'm not a stupid idiot, I'm thinking, Gee, maybe Mee is writing too much or too glibly or too diffusely and doesn't know it. So, to answer your question, I'd put it mid-scale as I'm feeling like none of the pieces tip the balance one way or the other.

PS It'll be swell to meet you before Armageddon.
