The VERY small screen is beckoning

Got an interesting email yesterday from my friend Christopher Carter Sanderson. Some of you may know him as the brains and brawn behind Gorilla Repertory Theatre, which basically created the concept of "Gorilla Theatre" here in New York City about 15 years ago and wrote a terrific book about it. Anyway, like me, Chris decided to do the Master's thing while well into his 30s, and now he's out of Yale and pursuing dreams like everybody else. The latest project: "Williamsburg," a series of 5-minute Webisodes about...what else?...a group of young theatre people living in Brooklyn. And I'll be writing at least one Webisode, maybe more. Will be interesting, since I've never written for film before.

Phone rings, door chimes, in blows Company

I just can't believe how many critics have gotten it wrong with the Broadway revival of Company. I don't necessarily want to single out anyone in particular who's just on some other kind of planet (coughNewYorkTimes, cough cough), but what am I not getting?

Here's my review: http://www.backstage.com/bso/news_reviews/nyc/review_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003466054.

It's just so awful having to know that important people are wrong. :-)

Going Grey

Tonight I have to write my review of Grey Gardens, the musical based on the famous documentary. I don't want to tip my hand, but, aw, hell, I'll tipple: I think it's excellent. I'll post tomorrow the link to my review.
