Broadway Announces End-of-Year Statistics

And everything is just rosy, according to the Broadway League and Bloomberg.com:

1) Total revenue was about $938 million, up 3.5% over 2006. No doubt the total would have topped $1 billion had the 19-day stagehands strike no occurred.

2) Attendance rose to 12.29 million in 2007, about 2.7% more than 2006.

Due to an anomaly in the calendar, 2007 actually included 53 weeks, so that, to some degree, mitigates these sunny numbers. Also, we can assume the rise in total grosses has everything to do with skyrocketing, anti-audience ticket prices.

Average ticket price for 2007: $76.32. And your first-born.
